PARENTS' CARE

My project wants to show the parents over care, and it’s also one part of my researches, to explore the relationship between human and human (for this project is Chinese Parents and children), because I’m an international student and my parents live in China, so we video chat every week, and they know Canada’s weather is cold, so they always remind me don’t forget to wear more clothes, and I want to add this element into this project, so I ask them to send me their records in Chinese as the audio, and I transfer them in English and show both English and Chinese, so people who don’t understand Chinese audio can look the English subtitle and let people who understand Chinese audio can feel resonate. I use the repetition of the audio to show parents like to repeat the same things again and again, and this is the way they show they care about us, and even though, we can take care of ourselves, they still afraid we may miss and forget something.
I project the words on the black down jacket (hang on the back of the chair) and the pink sweater (stacked on the chair), and the words are fade in and fade out, the difficulties for this part are the textures of the jacket and sweater, the effect of how the words show is unstable, so I cannot project on the fur on the down jacket’s hat although the environment is dark enough, and because these are fabrics, so they have wrinkles, so some words miss and hard to see on the black down jacket. Initially, I want to turn on a warm light beside the chair, because the warm light can let people feel comfortable and warm, it’s like parents’ care, but I cannot see the words at all, even though I adjust the brightness of the light. And for the video, I shoot the detail of the words at the beginning, and then zoom out and show the full view, so people who only can watch the video can see the words and understand what this project is about.
我的项目想表达父母的过度关怀，这也是我研究的一部分，探索人与人之间的关系（因为这个项目是中国父母和孩子），因为我是一名国际学生，我的父母住在 中国，所以我们每周视频聊天，他们知道加拿大天气冷，所以他们总是提醒我不要忘记多穿衣服，我想把这个元素加入到这个项目中，所以我让他们把他们的发给我 用中文录制成音频，我用英文转过来，中英双语显示，让不懂中文音频的人看英文字幕，让懂中文音频的人有共鸣。 我用音频的重复来表达父母喜欢一遍又一遍地重复同样的事情，这是他们关心我们的方式，即使我们可以照顾自己，他们仍然害怕我们可能会错过和 忘了什么。
我把文字投射到黑色羽绒服（挂在椅背上）和粉色毛衣（叠在椅子上），文字淡入淡出，这部分的难点是夹克的质感 还有毛衣，文字显示的效果不稳定，所以虽然环境够黑，但我无法投射到羽绒服帽子的毛皮上，而且因为是面料，所以有褶皱，所以有些文字会漏掉，很难看出来 见黑色羽绒服。 一开始我想在椅子旁边开一盏暖光灯，因为暖光灯让人感到舒服和温暖，就像父母的关怀一样，但是我根本看不到字，尽管我调了灯的亮度 . 而对于视频，我在开始时拍摄了文字的细节，然后缩小并显示全貌，以便只能观看视频的人可以看到文字并了解这个项目的内容。
